Instagram font generator

Type your text once and get it back in 19 styles, from bold and script to Fraktur and upside down. Tap Copy, paste it into your bio or caption, and you’re done. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

Style your text

These are Unicode symbols, not real fonts. Characters a style doesn’t cover are left unchanged. Keep your name field and key details plain so search and screen readers can read them.

    How the generator works

Instagram doesn’t let you choose a font for your bio, captions or comments. What you can do is paste in characters that look like styled letters. Unicode, the standard every phone uses for text, includes several full alphabets of letters in bold, italic, script, Fraktur and other shapes. Most were added for maths and science, where a bold x and an italic x can mean different things.

Because they are characters rather than formatting, they survive copy and paste. The generator swaps each plain letter for its styled twin. Anything a style doesn’t cover, such as accented letters, most punctuation and emoji, stays exactly as you typed it. Only some styles have digits (bold, double-struck, sans, sans bold, monospace, circled and fullwidth), so numbers stay plain in the rest.

Where styled text works on Instagram

    • Bio: yes. A styled word or heading can help one line stand out.
    • Captions and comments: yes, though long styled paragraphs are tiring to read.
    • Name field: it will accept them, but read the search point below first.
    • Username: no. Usernames only take plain letters, numbers, full stops and underscores.
    • Stories: the story editor has its own fonts, so you rarely need this there.

    The trade-offs to know about

    Screen readers

Styled letters are separate symbols, so a screen reader may read them one at a time, announce each as a maths symbol, or skip them. For someone using one, a bio written entirely in script can be close to unreadable. Keep anything people need, like what you do, where you are and how to book, in plain text, and use styling for a word or two of decoration.

    Search

Instagram search matches the characters people type. A styled “M” is a different character from a plain one, so someone searching for your name won’t necessarily find a styled version of it. Your name field is one of the main things search looks at, so keep your real name or brand there in ordinary letters.

    How it displays

Most modern phones show every style here, but older devices may show empty boxes. Squared letters can appear as coloured emoji on some phones, and the strikethrough and underline marks can sit slightly off with certain fonts. Check how it looks on your own profile before you commit.

    Which styles read best

Not every style suits every job. As a rough guide:

    • Bold and sans bold stay closest to normal text, so they work well for a short heading line in a bio.
    • Script and Fraktur are decorative. Use them for one word, such as your brand name, not a sentence.
    • Small caps and monospace give a quieter, tidy look that suits minimal profiles.
    • Upside down, circled and strikethrough are novelty styles, better for a joke in a caption than for anything people need to read.

    Tips for using it well

    • Stick to one style per profile. Mixing three looks cluttered rather than designed.
    • Style a label or a short heading, not whole sentences.
    • Pair it with clear spacing. Our line break generator keeps blank lines in captions, and the bio generator gives you a plain bio to decorate.

    1,000 followers, $13.99

If you want the follower count to match the effort you’ve put into your profile, our 1,000-follower package raises the number on your profile, with delivery usually finished the same day. It changes the count, not how many people like or comment on your posts.

    Questions, answered

    About Instagram fonts

Why do some characters stay the same after converting?
Each style only exists in Unicode for certain characters. Most cover the plain letters A to Z, and only a few include digits. Accented letters, most punctuation and emoji have no styled version, so the generator leaves them exactly as you typed them rather than swapping in something that looks wrong.
Can I use a fancy font in my Instagram username?
No. Usernames only accept plain letters, numbers, full stops and underscores, so styled characters will be rejected. You can use them in your name field, bio, captions and comments, although the name field is better kept plain so people can find you in search.
Will fancy text stop people finding my profile?
It can if you use it in your name field. Instagram search matches the characters people type, and a styled letter is a different character from a plain one, so a search for your name may not match a styled version of it. Styling a few words in your bio is much less of a problem.
Why does my styled text look different on another phone?
Each device draws these characters with its own fonts. Most modern phones show every style here, but older devices can show empty boxes, squared letters sometimes appear as coloured emoji, and strikethrough or underline marks can sit slightly off. Check your profile on more than one device if you can.
